The Goldman Sachs Finance Corp International Ltd has issued a total amount USD 75 million sustainability bond and dual listed on the Taipei Exchange and Luxembourg Stock Exchange from July 2, 2021. The bond is the first sustainability bond issued by the foreign financial institution, sets a milestone for the Sustainable Bond Market.

According to the Taipei Exchange, the bond fixed its coupon rate at 2.42% with maturities of 9.5 years and bond rating is Fitch A, the lead underwriter of the bond is E.SUN Commercial Bank, Ltd and the framework of the issue was verified by Sustainalytics. The funds raised from the sustainability bond will be used exclusively to loans and investments in projects and assets made or held by any Goldman Sachs Group member that respond to critical environmental, social and/or sustainability issues. The green project may include: clean energy, sustainable transport, sustainable food and agriculture, waste and materials and ecosystem services. The social project may include: accessible and innovative healthcare, financial inclusion, accessible and affordable education and/or communities.

As stated by the Taipei Exchange, since the listing and trading mechanism for the sustainability bonds launched in October 2020, the total amount of issuance has been reached NTD 52.4 billion, and the issuers include CTBC Bank, Bank SinoPac, Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Taipei Fubon Bank, Republic of Chile, Taiwan Cooperative Bank and Goldman Sachs Finance Corp International Ltd. Showing that domestic and foreign issuers joined the sustainable bond market under the trend of ESG to support the environment and corporate social responsibility.
